Techno-Thrillers are based around technology.
Tom Clancy and Michael Crichton are the people that people think of when you talk about techno-thrillers because, they are
considered the fathers of the genre.
These types of films tend to focus around war, space
travelling, futuristic and world wars.
An example of a techno-thriller film would be ‘Fast and
Furious 7’ however all of the movies in the series come into the genre.
The Fast and Furious franchise fits into the category of
techno thriller. This is because, it build up suspense in intense car chases,
fights and even some cases death scenes for example, the death of a main character.
This all helps to build up suspense all the way until the end where the ‘group’
confront the enemies in a massive fight on the streets. It fits into the techno
aspect because, you could not have a fast and furious movie without all of the
cars involved. The cars are an extra character in the film, It is what the film is built upon - car chase scenes and fights.
All of the cars which you see the main characters driving in are also very high
quality/fast and futuristic looking, therefore you get the technological
aspect of the film.
