Action thrillers are movies which are jam packed with action as you would have guessed. It aims to keep you on the edge of seat, by giving the viewer spectacular fight scenes which usually involves special effects such as explosions.

However the directors of this film tend to enjoy putting a little bit of a twist in the main story.

Action Thrillers tend to have ‘mega weapons’ What I mean by this is that they tend to have weapons which are huge and do lots of damage.

These films tend to have a lot of fighting involved and maybe even gory scenes.

The plot is mostly true to life so to speak although, you probably would not find a massive battle on the streets with machine guns, the plot is genuinely believable.

An example of an action thriller movie is the terminator film series in specifically I will include ‘Terminator Genesis’ 
Terminator Genesis fits in extremely well in the action thriller aspect of film. This is because, there is hardly a minute free from the action. Sure there is some res pate but the film genuinely is action packed. The plot may not be very realistic but it is not stupidly out of the ordinary with robots being created. The terminators are ruthless killing machines and they have not got any sense of remorse. So these can be linked in with psychopaths. As there is genuinely somebody like aught in an action film. The antagonist here if you like is John Connor. The film also keeps you on the edge of your seat because, of the amount of fight scene/war scenes that the viewer watches. The fight scenes are very intense and there is also a lot of pyrotechnics to keep the viewer engaged.
